Vocal Artistry

Performing arts education in Central Illinois, from university/pre-professional students to youth & teen Young Artists, has been shaped and cultivated by Matthew Vala. Dr. Vala is currently Instructional Assistant Professor at Illinois State University teaching music, theatre, musical theatre conducting, and artistically directing both operatic and musical theatre productions. He holds degrees from the University of North Texas (DMA, BM), Illinois State University (MM), and the University of Illinois (MPA). As a vocalist, Matthew's voice effortlessly glides between the worlds of classical music and musical theatre and his sincere interpretation of text brings an authenticity and emotional sensitivity as a performer and recitalist.
